Who We Are

A few years ago while trying to find a spot to store a new kayak that had just arrived to the warehouse we realized something. No longer were we three guys who liked to hunt and fish and explore the outdoors. We had been doing this for long enough, acquired enough knowledge and experience, been through enough gear, both good and bad, that others could look to us for advice.

We had a warehouse full of stuff that we had accumulated over the years. It would be a shame to let all of those hours out in the field go to waste. A friend suggested we create a place to share straight-forward reviews for the things we knew the most about.

We aim to keep things as simple as possible. We never understood top ten lists. Who wants to buy the tenth best anything?

Our target audience is us a decade ago. When we were greener than we are now. When the best way to evaluate if a product would hold up was to try it. Sure, there are user reviews out there, but are the products good, or good for the price? And most important, when comparing a few options, which is the best?

The gear we post is suitable for anyone getting started all the way up to very seasoned outdoorsmen. We try our best to recommend products readily available from the world’s biggest online retailer, Amazon. We may earn a commission from some of the products we represent but we are not directly sponsored by any particular brand, which enables us to give the most impartial and unbiased reviews we can.

While we often use the term “best” we generally have a pretty average joe in mind and aren’t recommending some $7,500 tent. We mean the best value for whatever your next adventure is.
